Kobujutsu
Kenjutsu and traditional weapons in Barcelona
Training with many kinds of traditional weapons is the foundation from which the whole art springs, empty-hand techniques included. And ninjutsu takes it to another level.
What kobujutsu is
Kobujutsu are the classical Japanese martial arts of feudal Japan, with a use of body mechanics very different from gendai budō, the modern arts and sports such as aikido, judo or karate. It covers every kind of traditional weapon as well as methods of empty-hand combat.

Kenjutsu: the art of Japanese swordsmanship
The sword becomes a means of your own physical and mental development. The weapon educates the body: it corrects posture, helps build strength and teaches you to move and to execute technique in the best and most effective way, while cultivating composure and precision. That is why it is not kept apart from the empty-hand work: taijutsu is shaped by the weapons training that comes before it, and the logic of movement is the same.

Battōjutsu and iaido
Battōjutsu, also known as iai, is the art of drawing the sword and cutting in a single movement. It is part of the kobujutsu we practise, alongside the rest of the sword work.
Iaido is its modern form; here we train it in its classical form, with a thoroughly pragmatic, applied logic.
The weapons you'll get to know
These are some of the many weapons we practise with.

- Katana and bokken
- The Japanese sword and its wooden replica.
- Kodachi and tantō
- The short sword and the knife.
- Bō
- The long staff, about 1.8 metres.
- Jō
- The medium staff, about 127 cm.
- Hanbō
- The short staff, about 90 cm: half a bō.
- Jutte
- A short metal bar with a side hook, designed to disarm and subdue armed opponents.
- Yari
- The spear.
- Naginata
- A kind of Japanese halberd.
…and many others.
Every path begins with a single step.
Yours asks for nothing you do not already have.
Not fitness, not experience, not certainty.
Only the decision to walk through the door once
and let the body understand the rest.
